This brief introduction provides an overview of the essential knowledge and skills a Safety Practitioner needs to have, which will include conducting a risk assessment and/or incident investigation; doing proper inspections by knowing how to look for hazards and understand what precautionary measures are necessary. Join us as we explore these critical aspects of creating a culture of health and safety at a workplace or a construction site.
Description
This SafePrac course have been developed specifically for anyone who works in the field of health and safety or wants to have just more knowledge and skills in the field of health and safety. It consists of 18 different subjects that focused, not only on the information, but also and mostly on the practical implementation of the information. There will be some assignments to see or help with the practical implementation of the information received.
Throughout this course, you will learn about the following subjects (these are not all the subjects in this course):
- OHS Act and Legal Liability: Understanding health and safety legislation as well as different types of liabilities facing employers and employees and safety practitioners.
- Health and Safety Management Systems: Creating and implementing a health and safety management system.
- Construction Regulations: Understanding of the Construction Regulations and enforcement thereof.
- Emergency Preparedness: Prepare and implement a full emergency response plan.
- Environmental Management: Create and implement an environmental management plan as well as how to deal with aspects and impacts on the environment.
- Fall Protection Plan: Developing of a fall protection plan.
- Noise and Hazardous Agents: Knowledge about dealing with noise and hazardous substance agents at the workplace.
- Scaffolding Introduction: Understanding of SANS 10085 and how to recognize if a scaffold complies with this standard.
By the end of this SafePrac course, you’ll have a solid foundation in workplace safety principles and be better equipped to contribute to a safer and healthier workplace for yourself, your colleagues, and all personnel on a construction site.
